A large number of faithful gathered at the St. John Paul II Shrine on Sunday evening for a special Holy Mass celebrated in Hindi for the Hindi-speaking migrants residing in and around the Bajpe region. The Eucharistic celebration, which began at 4:00 PM, beautifully reflected the spirit of unity, faith, and inclusiveness within the Shrine community.
The Holy Mass was solemnly celebrated by Rev. Fr. Meckenzie Mendonca as the main celebrant, with Rev. Fr. Jesudas D’Costa as the co-celebrant. The liturgy, readings, prayers, and hymns in Hindi enabled the faithful to participate actively and prayerfully in the Eucharistic celebration. At the end of the Mass, Fr. Jesudas D’Costa, Director for Migrants of St. Simon Pezar Deanery, thanked everyone present, especially those who contributed to the choir and liturgy.
In his homily, Fr. Meckenzie Mendonsa highlighted the importance of faith, hope, and a sense of belonging in the lives of migrant families who have made Bajpe their home while living away from their native places. He encouraged the faithful to remain deeply rooted in Christ and to continue building a strong spiritual community through prayer, unity, and mutual support.
The celebration served as a meaningful initiative to spiritually nourish the Hindi-speaking migrant community and to help them feel welcomed, valued, and connected within the parish family. The faithful expressed their joy and gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the Holy Eucharist in their own language.
The Holy Mass concluded with a special prayer for migrant families and for peace, harmony, and God’s blessings upon all gathered at the Shrine. Following the celebration, juice was served to all the faithful.
