The ICYM Bajpe Unit, in association with the Youth Commission and Church Ward Members, successfully organised Pavsa Pakwana 2.0 on 9th August 2026 at the Church Hall. The event brought together parishioners, Gurkars, ward members, and youth in a vibrant celebration of fellowship, entertainment, and traditional monsoon delicacies.
The programme was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Andrew D’Souza, Rev. Fr. Jesudas D’Costa, Rev. Fr. Vijay Monteiro, Parish Council representatives, ICYM Pezar Deanery office bearers, and ICYM Unit President, Secretary and Animator. The celebration commenced with the traditional Voje, followed by a prayer service and a warm welcome address delivered by ICYM Unit President Joston Fernandes.
A unique inauguration ceremony marked the official opening of the event, where an assortment of monsoon delicacies prepared by all the participating wards was displayed together on a single table, symbolizing the spirit of unity, togetherness, and shared traditions within the parish community. In his presidential address, Rev. Fr. Andrew D’Souza highlighted the importance of fostering unity and strengthening community bonds.
Sponsors were felicitated with mementos in recognition of their generous support, and the formal programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by ICYM Unit Secretary Jessica Crasta.
One of the major attractions of the event was the food stalls set up by the 22 wards, offering a wide variety of homemade rainy-season delicacies that were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The entertainment programme added colour and excitement to the celebration, featuring a special Qawwali by ICYM members, followed by lively dance performances, a skit presented by various parish associations and ward members, interactive games, and the ever-popular Housie Housie. A special singing performance by Rev. Fr. Jesudas D’Costa further captivated the audience and was warmly appreciated by everyone present.
The event was further enriched by the presence of members of the Mangalore ICYM Central Committee, whose participation added encouragement and enthusiasm to the celebration.
A Reel Competition based on the Pavsa Pakwana theme song also generated great excitement among participants. The winners included Liza & Team (Best Performance) and Anika, Anora & Genelia (Highest Likes), while Telma Lasrado Shenoy and Reeva, Jia & Rishon received consolation prizes for their creative efforts.
Another exciting highlight of the programme was the auction of Voje items contributed by parishioners. The enthusiastic bidding created a lively atmosphere and added to the festive spirit of the event.
Pavsa Pakwana 2.0 was more than just a celebration of seasonal delicacies; it was a beautiful reminder of the strength of community, the joy of shared traditions, and the bonds that unite parish families. As the evening came to a close, participants departed with hearts full of happiness and memories that will be treasured for years to come.
