St Joseph’s Church Observes Good Friday with Solemn Devotion and Deep Reflection on Christ’s Passion

Good Friday commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His death at Calvary. It’s a day we Christians across the world deeply reflect on the love of God for his children.

The day began with a Way of the Cross at 8AM on the church grounds, led by Rev Fr Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, Assistant Parish priest and Bro. Rajath Lobo. The devotional journey, which traces Christ’s path to crucifixion through fourteen stations, drew numerous parishioners who walked solemnly through each stage of Christ’s passion.

The liturgical service of the Lord’s passion was celebrated in the evening. The service was structured into four distinct parts: the Liturgy of the Word, the Solemn Intercessions, the Veneration of the Holy Cross, and the Holy Communion. Each segment invited the faithful to participate deeply in the mysteries of Good Friday.

Rev. Fr. Vincent Dsouza delivered a profoundly moving homily, reflecting on the immense suffering endured by our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. He emphasized that this ultimate sacrifice was made to redeem humanity from the bondage of sin, highlighting the depth of divine love and mercy.

During the Solemn Intercessions, heartfelt prayers were offered for various intentions, fostering a deep sense of unity and communal devotion among the congregation. This was followed by the Veneration of the Holy Cross, where individuals reverently approached to pay homage, contemplating the profound significance of the cross as the symbol of salvation. The service concluded with the distribution of Holy Communion, enabling the faithful to partake in the sacred mystery and grace of the Eucharist.

The ceremony concluded with a sense of serenity, offering all in attendance a meaningful opportunity to deepen their spiritual journey and renew their commitment to living in accordance with the teachings of Christ.
