Solemn Good Friday Service: Remembering Christ’s Sacrifice

On this sacred day of Good Friday, our parish community gathered in deep prayer and reflection for the solemn evening ceremony held at 5:30 PM. The service began in silence, inviting the faithful into a spirit of reverence as we remembered the Passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The liturgy was led by Rev. Fr Francis Dsouza, Spiritual Director of Kripa Sadhana, with Rev. Fr Andrew Dsouza, Parish Priest, Bajpe, and Rev. Fr Jesudas Dcosta, Spiritual Director of St John Paul II Shrine, Bajpe, concelebrating. The Passion narrative was proclaimed, followed by a moving homily from Fr Francis, who encouraged the faithful to meditate on Christ’s sacrifice and His message of love, forgiveness, and redemption. He reminded us that the Cross is our hope and identity as Christians, calling us to live humbly with forgiveness in our hearts.

The solemn intercessions were offered for the Church, the world, and all those in need, uniting the community in prayer. A profound moment of the ceremony was the veneration of the Cross, where parishioners came forward in devotion, expressing gratitude for Christ’s ultimate sacrifice. The choir led the congregation in hymns that echoed both sorrow and hope, deepening the spirit of the liturgy.

The distribution of Holy Communion strengthened the faithful, reminding all of Christ’s abiding presence even in moments of sorrow. Families, youth, and elders participated wholeheartedly, creating a powerful sense of unity within the parish community.

The evening concluded in silence, allowing everyone to depart with hearts filled with reflection and gratitude.

The Good Friday service reminded us of God’s immense love and prepared us spiritually for the joy of Easter, encouraging each one to carry the message of sacrifice, humility, and hope into the days ahead.
