ICYM Bajpe’s Gadyanth Dabazo: Sowing Joy, Reaping Unity

ICYM Bajpe Unit, in collaboration with Fathima 1st and Fathima 2nd Wards, successfully organized “Gadyanth Dabazo” — a fun-filled day in the field — on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, at Paldodi, Ambikanagara.

The event began at 9:45 a.m. with a grand inaugural program. Guests were welcomed with a band procession, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. The dignitaries on the dais included:
• Rev. Fr. Andrew Dsouza – Parish Priest of Bajpe and Director of ICYM Bajpe
• Rev. Fr. Jesudas D’Costa – Spiritual Director of St. John Paul II Shrine and Asst. Director of ICYM Bajpe
• Mr. Stany D’Souza – Parish Council Vice President
• Mrs. Gracy Sequeira – Parish Council Secretary
• Mrs. Anitha D’costa- 21 pastoral commissions coordinator
• Mrs. Delphine Rodrigues – Main Sponsor (Mother of Stany “Rocky” Rodrigues)
• Mr. Uggappa Mulya – PDO, Paduperar Panchayat
• Mr. Jayanth Poojary – Vice President, Paduperar Panchayat
• Mr. Ronald Rodrigues – Gurkar, Fathima I Ward
• Mr. Gration D’Souza – Gurkar, Fathima II Ward

The event began with a hymn led by ICYM members. Mrs. Sunitha Dsouza gave a warm welcome to the guests and gathering with shawls and ‘kandi’. In a symbolic gesture, the parish priest and the dignitaries inaugurated the program by sowing paddy seedlings, marking the start of a series of inter-ward field competitions.

Rev. Fr. Andrew Dsouza and Mr. Uggappa Mulya spoke on the significance of the “Field” in human life and rural culture.

A felicitation ceremony followed, honoring Mrs. Delphine Rodrigues as the mother of the main sponsor and Mr. Jerald Vijay Rego and Mr. Sunil Rego for providing the field. Mementos were also presented to all co-sponsors and donors as a token of gratitude.

The vote of thanks was delivered by ICYM Secretary Ashel Rosario, along with a green gesture—presenting plants to the guests. A special cultural segment, voje, dance, and buffalo race, added color to the event.

The day continued with games and activities, organized for different age categories, creating joy and friendly competition among the participants. Lunch was provided to all attendees.

The event concluded around 6:00 p.m. with a formal valedictory program. ICYM President Reenal Rodrigues welcomed the gathering, followed by an appreciation talk by Fr. Jesudas D’Costa. Mr. Manoj proposed the concluding vote of thanks, and the prize distribution brought smiles to many faces.

The event concluded on a heartwarming note, with parishioners taking home beautiful memories, laughter, and community spirit.
