Celebrating the Feast of St. Cecilia: Patron Saint of Music and Our Choir Family

On November 22nd, the Church joyfully celebrated the Feast of St. Cecilia, the heavenly patroness of music, singers, musicians, and choirs. St. Cecilia is remembered not only for her faith and martyrdom but also for her deep love for God expressed through music. Tradition tells us that she sang to the Lord in her heart even in moments of suffering, making her a timeless symbol of devotion through song.

Music holds a special place in Catholic worship. Through hymns, psalms, and liturgical chants, we lift our hearts to God, deepen our prayer, and unite as one community in praise. The words we speak may express meaning, but the songs we sing express the soul.

Honouring Our Parish Choir

As we celebrate this feast, we also take the opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation for our parish choirs. Week after week, during celebrations of the Eucharist, sacraments, feasts, and special liturgies, our choir serves with dedication, discipline, and joy.

Their ministry is more than music—it is prayer offered through melody, harmony, and heartfelt expression. Choir members arrive early, stay late, rehearse tirelessly, and continually strive to enhance the beauty of worship. Their contribution inspires the congregation to participate more fully in the sacred liturgy.

We thank them for their passion, commitment, and willingness to serve God and the parish community through music.

Choir Get-Together: An Evening of Fellowship

To mark this special occasion, our parish choirs gathered for a joyful Choir Get-Together—an evening filled with thanksgiving, laughter, and bonding. The celebration included:

  • Prayer and reflection in honour of St. Cecilia
  • Acknowledgment of choir members and musicians
  • Sharing of food and fellowship

Moments like these strengthen not only musical excellence but also friendship, unity, and shared purpose within the choir family.

As we continue to celebrate the feast, may we be reminded that every voice—whether trained or humble—becomes beautiful when it praises God with sincerity.

Let us thank God for the gift of music and pray that, like St. Cecilia, our lives may become a song of faith, hope, and love.
