Maundy Thursday marks the solemn commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples. It is the beginning of the Paschal Triduum. It holds deep significance in Christian faith, highlighting the three pivotal events: the institution of the Holy Eucharist, the Washing of the Disciples’ feet and the New Commandment symbolizing love, sacrifice, humility and the call to communion. It is also a day dedicated to praying for priests, as parishes around the world remember their service and vocation.
On 17 April 2025, Bajpe Parish solemnly observed Maundy Thursday. Rev Fr Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, Assistant parish priest was the main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist, concelebrated by Rev. Dr. Ronald Cutinha, Parish priest, Rev. Fr Vincent Dsouza, Director, Kripa Sadhana Minor Seminary, Bajpe.
The Eucharistic celebration incorporated the washing of the feet of 12 parishioners, as a symbolic enactment of Jesus’ act of washing the feet of his disciples. Following the Eucharistic adoration, the Holy Eucharist was kept at the Altar of Repose.
