Annual Feast of St. John Paul II Shrine – 40th Ruby Jubilee Celebration of Papal Visit

The St. John Paul II Shrine joyfully celebrated its Annual Feast on February 6, 2026, at 10:30 AM, marking a significant milestone—the 40th Ruby Jubilee of the historic papal visit of St. John Paul II. The occasion was a profound expression of faith, gratitude, and community spirit, drawing numerous devotees and well-wishers.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Dr Bernard Moras, Emeritus Archbishop of Bangalore, as the main celebrant. He was joined by Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza, Emeritus Bishop of Mangalore, along with Monsignor Maxim Noronha, Vicar General; Rev. Fr. Jesusdas, Spiritual Director of the Shrine; Rev. Fr Andrew Dsouza, Rector; and several other priests of the Mangalore Diocese. The liturgy was prayerful and uplifting, inspiring the faithful to deepen their commitment to Christ and the teachings of St. John Paul II.

Following the Holy Mass, a short stage program was organized to commemorate the Jubilee and to honor the dedicated service of former priests who nurtured and guided the shrine over the years. Felicitations were extended to:

  • Rev. Fr. Stany Monteiro (2018 – 2021)
  • Rev. Fr. Rohith D’Costa (2021 – 2023)
  • Rev. Fr. Anil Roshan Lobo (2023 – 2025)

The gathering also fondly remembered the late Rev. Fr. Felix John Noronha (2015 – 2018), acknowledging his invaluable contributions to the growth and spiritual life of the shrine.

A notable highlight of the celebration was the Inauguration of the E-Offering (QR Code Stand), introduced with the support of Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), Bajpe, enabling devotees to make offerings conveniently through digital means—reflecting a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

The celebrations concluded with a fellowship meal, where devotees shared in joy and unity, strengthening the bonds of the parish community.

The 40th Ruby Jubilee Feast stands as a testament to the enduring faith, dedication, and collective spirit of all those connected to the St. John Paul II Shrine.
